In 1998 I had a beautiful Siamese cat die from renal failure (kidney failure), and the vet attributed the problem to dental issues.
Today I received a report from Food Matters (I’m on their mailing list) about specifically how root canals can in fact not address the problem of continuing bacteria and infection, nor do antibiotics completely address the issue (and if you’re on antibiotics, be sure to be taking a neutraceutical/NSF grade pro-biotic to keep your gut stocked with health bacteria) Tooth decay can lead to all types of systemic issues, including arthritis, heart disease and kidney problems.
The two dietary leading causes of tooth decay were sugar and white flour. The sugar, glucose, was specifically named but keep in mind that glucose is a necessary sugar in the body. It is one of the essential 8 needed for cell-to-cell communication. The problem comes in when our bodies are reacting to the foods we eat and create too much glucose, which then causes the pancreas to increase insulin to bring the blood sugar to normal levels. Eating the wrong foods causes a huge chain reaction in our systems that have long-lasting consequences.
Watch the movie, Food Matters, to which there is a link on the side, and get on their email list. They have a lot of great information.
At Immune System Issues because at the Immune System report, we feel as if the is a vague understanding of the immune system and not a real understanding of how it works.
When discussing immune system issues, it comes down to where the immune system actually begins.
White blood cells originate from within the bone marrow and travel through the body. However, they don’t simply travel around without being given a set of instructions and a compass. Their communication tools come from structural carbohydrates that are broken down from the foods we eat; nutrition, therefore, is vital to our immune system. Without the structural carbohydrates, cells in our body do not have glycosylation – communcation. Without communication, there is improper function.
Immune system issues arise when there is lack of cellular communication. Either the body over-communicates and sends too many cells to attack an issue, which can lead to an auto-immune disease, or it fails to recognize a problem and does not send help at all, resulting in proliferation of a pathogen. Cancer is a symptom of an under-active immune system.
Healthy cells create a tissues. Healthy tissues make healthy organs. Healthy organs make a healthy body.
Immune system issues get in the way because of lack of cellular communication, which is directly related to lack of proper nutrients, specifically structural carbohydrates which are lacking in modern diets.
Our cells are bombarded with toxins every moment. Our bodies do pretty well with removing the pathogens, but some pathogens are so toxic that our bodies cannot hold the defense even with a fairly healthy immune system.
A recent study by Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center found a link between household pesticides and ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). ALL usually affects children between the ages of 3 and 7. The two study groups included half healthy children and half with ALL. Half of all the children were found to have pesticides in their urine, but in the the ALL children, levels of two OP metabolites — diethylthiophosphate (DETP) and diethlydithiophosphate (DEDTP) were higher.
Common pesticides in the house include flea bombs, bug sprays, strips, fly paper, and of course Advantage and Frontline. While your child may not develop ALL, all children should have extremely limited exposure to pesticides. If a pet is treated with a pesticide for fleas, Anyone handling the animal should thoughly wash afterwards since pesticides are absorbed through the skin and through our lungs.
“Organic food is no healthier, study finds” is the title of an article that Reuters put out today. This report, commissed by the British government, is biased towards non-organic food which drives the British food economy, just as it drives the American food economy.
There are health benefits by not having certain pesticides used when growing the products, and they’ve completely glossed over that, but then again, an organic farmer can use a lot of chemicals and still be “organic.”
The truth is that the vital nutrients necessary for optimal health are not present in organic foods any more than non-organic because the soils are still depleted, the food is green-harvested (harvested before ripe), and the food is void of vital nutrients.
The only benefit of purchasing “organic” produce is that it may have been raised without some of the harsher chemicals.
It has always seemed to me that if it requires less overhead to produce something, the price should be lower, but in fact the price is higher on organic. For example, why does unsalted butter cost more than salted? Organic should be undercutting the market, although nutritionally it makes no difference.
The best way to insure optimal nutrition from your foods is to grow your own with heirloom seeds (nothing GMO). So think of planting a small garden in the summer or building an inexpensive greenhouse. Pick and consume the plants only when they are at peak ripeness. Remember: the phytochemicals and structural carbohydrates are not present until ripening.
While most of the films we recommend are food related, this one is too but with a slightly different bent, because it isn’t about agriculture.
This movie opens July 30/31 around the country in independent theaters, so be sure to catch it!

One of the reasons we recommend the films that we do is to help open the eyes of people to what is really going on in the world’s food supply – and often the cruetly behind it when it involves animals.
We all know the need to boost our immune system levels up, due to our present environment. I purchase top quality nutrients from a nutraceutical research and development company. The science behind their products impressed me and I feel confident I am doing all I can to live a healthy lifestyle.
Now that I have taken care of my body…from the inside, what else can I do?
I live by the beach and I love to go swimming. But with pollution problems of today, is the ocean safe?? Can I get sick from the water? That has been a big concern of mine. So I did some homework.
I spent the morning on the phone with local lifeguard headquarters, Department of Beaches and Harbors, and LA County public health office, for starters, to get the scoop. Yes, there is a ton of information…including beach advisories and grades, sanitary sewer overflow incident maps, the list goes on. So my main curiosity this morning is….
How is the ocean monitored?
What website can I go for clean ocean information?
Ocean Monitoring…
The Recreational Waters Program routinely collects ocean water samples every Monday, at 40 sampling sites extending from the Ventura/Los Angeles County border to south of the Redondo Beach pier. In addition, 5 samples are collected at Avalon Beach on Catalina from April through October. Samples are collected in the surf zone and analyzed by the Department of Public Health laboratory for total coliform, E. coli and enterococcus bacteria.
Beaches are closed when a suspected or real sewage discharge to ocean waters occurs or elevated bacteriological levels can be linked to a known sewage discharge. Beaches are kept closed until sampling data indicates that bacteria levels meet State standards. A rain advisory is issued anytime there is significant rainfall that may cause bacterial levels to exceed State standards in ocean waters. The advisory stays in effect for 72 hours after rainfall has ended. The program also investigates complaints of beach sanitation, illegal discharges, sewage spills and areas of high chronic bacteria levels.
Websites for Beach ocean grades…
Lots of interesting sites, but here are the ones I like. I live in Santa Monica, so I searched by county (mine being Los Angeles).
www.healthebay.org
Go to the top of the website and click on Conditions…then click on Beach Report Card. This opens up to a site map and you can go to the county of your choice. The left side of the website will then open up to specifics of your choice.
www.LApublichealth.org
Go to the A-Z index, click on B….for Beach Advisories and you will come to a page of beaches and their grades (A-F). I will go to a beach with an A rating only.
There is just too much information to cover at this time. I recommend finding an A grade beach, in a location away from an active storm drain. But don’t stop there…take time to do more of your own research. There is only a limited bacteria being tested, so don’t rely on these tests alone. Talk your local officials, and to the lifeguards on duty, and…..have a healthy day at the beach.
With some vaccines carrying over 400X the recommended amount of mercury for a person, this is DEFINITELY NOT something you want to put in your newborn or any developing child. DO NOT be persuaded by your doctor to give this to your child.

“The Physician must start from Nature, with an open mind.”
These words have guided Bill McAnalley, PhD for over three decades in his quest to help people live long, healthy lives. Today, 25 US patents and over 300 international patents later, the scientist who identified the active ingredient in one of the world’s most powerful healing plants (Aloe Vera) is still hard at work at unlocking more and more of nature’s secrets through the aid of modern science.
This Tuesday, Dr McAnalley will pick up from where he left off last week. Using his newly released book entitled “The Science Behind Aloe – The Healing Plant,” as a road map, he will discuss the recent developments in immunology which have allowed scientists to understand the role of acemannan and other similar food polysaccharides in supporting the immune system. He will also present the mechanisms by which acemannan can promote optimal health, and elucidate its effects on cell structure, wound healing, viral infections, cancer and other conditions.
This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your loved ones to learn more about how glycobiology (the science of sugars) can help you gain and maintain optimal health.
I have a neighbor who has been sick with a cold/allergy four times over the last four months. Why? Immune system issues, but she doesn’t see it that way. She sees it as if it’s a by-product of her giving up smoking…
I see it as immune system issues. She claims she never eats junk food. She doesn’t understand that the so called “good food” she’s eating is still nutritionally deficient. Even eating organic, which is better, is not good enough. But Heaven forbid she should listen to me. She’s quite happy to go to the doctor for drugs to “cure” her, not being willing to take in the proper nourishment to allow the body to self-heal. Does she even drink enough water? Being hydrated is vital for healing because it allows the body to pass toxins out through the bowels.
So, for the 4th time in 4 months I have said… you need to support your immune system, and for the 4th time, she has rolled her eyes at me as if I don’t know what I’m talking about. One of these days maybe she’ll wise up.
